Well, how do we handle it?!
Bulk trash will be collected from our neighborhood during the first full week of each month. It’s easy to remember – think of it as being the first week of the month with a Monday in it. For example, if the first day of the month falls on Wednesday the first full week of the month would be the following week.
Place all materials for pickup on your front curb/property line, but do not block sidewalks. Do this no earlier than the Thursday before the week of collection and no later than 7:00 AM on Monday of the week of collection. Failure to adhere to these rules can result in fines from $200 to $2000. For bulk trash pickup during an unscheduled week, call the city at (214) 670-8613 for a free estimate.
2007 bulk trash pick-up weeks in our area are:
January 1, February 5, March 5, April 2, May
7, June 4
July 3, August 6, September 3,
October 1, November 5, and December 3
Remember, the following materials will not be picked up with bulk trash: bagged grass clippings, new construction or remodeling materials, rocks, bricks, concrete, or dirt.
Regular trash collection days are Tuesday and Friday. Trash should be placed in the city-issued trash containers. The containers should be placed in the alley behind your home or on the front curb (whichever is appropriate for your home) by 7:00 AM on the morning of pickup. Containers should be removed from the curb following pickup. Be sure to position the container with the proper side facing the street or alley so the collection truck's automated arm can grasp the container. Your container won't be emptied if it is positioned improperly.
